See ya Costa Rica
Sitting now in the Liberia airport as I report my ramblings one more time for this lovely trip. Not looking forward to getting out of the plane tonight to the sub-freezing temps after a month in the high 80s, but reflecting on this trip I can't complain for a second. Especially when I finished it out yesterday with my best surf session of the entire trip. Like a great golf shot ya have (once or twice round) it keeps you coming back. I'm going to need to figure out a way to fit surfing into my future however possible. I'm a complete amateur, but the itch has been created.
Before that session though, the full 3.5 straight days of a strict wind storm continued. No thunder, no lightning, no rain, just blue skies and consistent 30ish MPH winds and gusts in the 55-70 MPH range OFTEN. More of the same from what I reported in the last entry. One of the weirder weather environments i've ever experienced. The ocean water temp dropped about 20 degrees in a day or two and the currents were incredibly strong.

Again on another of the windy mornings I walked down to the beach into a sandstorm around 7 am to check out the powerful ocean. There were only 2 or 3 people in sight, one guy Patrick being an American that has lived in Nosara 23 years. We were sitting there taking in the scene when I spotted what I thought was a turtle in front of us on the beach. It is supposed to be that time of year but usually the turtles are on a beach called Ostional which was 6 or 7 miles north so Patrick said it probably was not. They hatch there in droves there, but if they are at Guiones they call them "tortugas perdidas" (lost turtles). They are usually alone and it's rare to see so I was lucky to catch one when I walked down and saw that it actually was. The turtle was an absolute beast and the pic doesn't do it justice. The videos I took were also poor because of the 50 mile an hour wind and sand in my face. Hell of a sight though:

I thought I wouldn't get that final chance to surf but thankfully Tuesday night the winds calmed. Wednesday morning had no current whatsoever, mid-size rollers that broke for what felt like minutes, and a nice, crispy water temp. I rode the face of 3 or 4 waves getting the angled launch down it felt like pure joy. Couldn't get out of the water and I completely exhausted myself over 2 hrs.

To any real surfer I probably looked like a squid just trying to stay balanced as I rode down the face, but I don't care it was amazing. Anybody that surfs that has somehow read these posts please feel free to hit me up. Look forward to whenever the next chance I get is.

Random Food and Drink Section:
I tried a new organic juice of a fruit I'd never had called tamarind. I'd give it a 6.5 out of 10. No strong taste really more just indifferent to it. There's another exciting review for the people.

Wait I have another one...The last supper was this juicy burger from a damn good chef and I'm pissed it took me until the last day to find this guy. He's a chef and a food truck owner so we had one thing in common. He was a hilarious chatterbox. Talked to me about working a summer in seaside heights jersey and said how there's "a lot of italians there" and the people are crazy in the summer He had me laughing in his broken English and he guaranteed that the burger would be the best in Nosara. I think he was right.
Quiet night after the last supper....When I come back here I plan on getting out in the ocean whether that's fishing, snorkeling or just on a Catamaran. The endless blue is enticing. Funny enough there's a catamaran that advertises "come explore the Gold Coast with us" which is lie cause that's Australia, but it is fitting. It also goes along with the literal translation of: Cost="Coast", Rica="Rich" (i.e. Rich Coast) which it certainly is. The weather, the beaches, and the Tica culture. The lifestyle most live in that area is most definitely rich. I met many kind people in one off interactions throughout my month and will have to visit again.
Alright people that is it from the Pura Vida life for this year at least, I'll check back in when I feel like it.....
